Nintendo Game Testing
Testing video games for Nintendo can be a lot of fun. After all, Nintendo is known as one of the best video game companies out there, and their various consoles and platforms have sound millions around the world. The Wii and Nintendo DS are currently two of the most popular platforms out there, and many people would jump at the chance to test games for either.
Getting a Job with Nintendo
Being a game tester for Nintendo, however, is not an easy job to get. This is because competition for game testing jobs is very intense. Submitting your resume to be a game tester is one way to get a job with Nintendo. Another way is to go through a temp agency that works with Nintendo. Sometimes the company hires temporary employees to test games. To do that, however, you may need to move to Redmond, Washington, where Nintendo's American offices are headquartered.
Of course, you're going to need something on your resume to make you stand out and get you a job over the other candidates. One way of doing this is to participate in beta testing. By volunteering for beta tests, you can get important video game testing experience. You don't necessarily have to beta test Nintendo games, either; beta testing of any kind gives you great experience.
Education is also important. If you can show that you understand how video games work and can write detailed bug reports, you have a better chance of getting a job as a Nintendo game tester. One was of doing this is to study video game programming. In fact, Nintendo is associated with a video game college—Digipen. Digipen is located in Redmond in part of Nintendo's headquarters. Students at Digipen may have a chance to serve as a game tester for Nintendo, depending on their courses and on Nintendo's gaming schedule.
