Home Game Testing Jobs
There are many different types of jobs in the video game industry. Many of them require you to move to the city where the company is located and work in their offices, but there are game testing jobs that allow you to work from home.
You can often live anywhere in the world and do this type of job. Of course, first you must get hired for it, but once you've overcome that obstacle, the rest is easy. Once you've got a home game testing job, you may think all you have to do is play video games all day. While that's certainly a large part of the job, it's not actually the only thing you'll do.
First of all, you've got to check your email several times a day. This is often the only way the game company and the programmers have of contacting their game testers. If you miss an important email or don't read your emails for several days, you may miss announcements or changes to your testing schedule. Communication is vitally important when you're working from home.
Second, you'll need to do more than just play the video game through like you normally would. You'll need to check out every different option, go explore every single area, and try out every character. This may mean playing the game through multiple times. You have to be careful not to get caught up in the game and forget that you're supposed to be looking for bugs and other things that aren't quite right with the game.

Also, while you're playing the game, you're going to need to keep a notebook nearby so you can record all of these errors. You need to make notes on what you were doing when you encountered the bug, what happened, and how, if possible, the bug could be repeated. If you don't record each bug and error as you come across it, you may forget to include it in your report. Likewise, if you don't record all of the details, you may leave out something later.

Third, writing reports is a major part of game testing. After you finish doing all the testing on the game itself, you'll need to take all of those notes you made and write them up into a formal report. This report needs to be incredibly detailed since it's the only way the programmers will have or recreating the errors you found. If your report isn't detailed enough or doesn't give the programmers all the information they need, you may have to play through the game again or send them additional information. In some cases, poor report writing may even lead to a tester losing their job, so it's vitally important that your reports are well done.
Finally, since you're working from home, you may find yourself distracted by television, house work, or the telephone. If you let yourself become too distracted, you may not meet your testing deadline. This is also something that can easily get a tester fired. Remember that even though you're at home, you're still working, and you need to keep yourself focused on your testing when you're working.

I am 26 years of age and am currently a stay at home dad for my 1 year old daughter. I have plenty of time spare and spend most of the day playing computer games. I have been searching hundreds of websites with no luck for an at home testing job. I have been a gamer since i got my Commadore 64 when i was 6 and feel i have a good knowledge of games and regularly point out problems. Since the C64 I have owned….Mega drive, N64, Gamecube, ps1 and 2. I currently own an xbox 360, wii, pc, nintendo ds and ps3 so can work on any console.
I spent most of my early gaming years playing sports and driving games with the occasional beat em up thrown in. With the release of Final Fantasy VII I started to play rpg’s and played many good and even more awful games. My first experience of FPS games was like many people Goldeneye which I absolutely loved and if I’m honest got a bit addicted to. After that i didn’t play FPS until COD MW2 and have become addicted to the COD series and feel I am fairly competent. ( Got to prestige in MW2 after 2 months having not played since goleneye….not bad) I would appreciate any info/help you may be able to give me in the pursuit of a game testing job and I thank you for taking the time to read my mini-essay.

I’ve made a book or two but not published so im good on story lines as well as other stuff I can make a good accusation on problems with thoughts as well. I’ve played almost all games that come out and I love to play them over and over again they never get boring…. except Star wars the force unleashed II they could have made it longer and have cooler jedi powers.
They’re was alot of hype for no reason…. thats my opinion already and the problem was the game play was way to short… So I think I would be a good tester in my opinion…So please tell me when theres an opening.
well im so broke i cant even start working because i dont have ANY money! is there any home game jobs available?
